CareerPlug was built around one idea: to make hiring easier. After all, isn’t that why you look for an applicant tracking system … too many spreadsheets, emails, and bumbling interviews? Hiring can be hard, confusing, and frustrating. Applicant tracking systems can usually lift that burden by helping you get organized and make effective hires. But once that initial relief sets in (you’re made your high-priority hire), you’ll finally have a chance to look at how else HR Software can make your life easier.
Software Advice, an Austin-based company that reviews HR and applicant tracking software, gathered data from HR Software users to get an inside look at what users really wanted. Yes, Applicant Tracking … and 89 percent of respondents that they were satisfied with their HR Software … but what else were users most interested in investing in this coming year?
The overwhelming answer – 44 % respondents agreeing – performance reviews. It makes sense, performance reviews are essentially an extension of interviewing. Conducting regular reviews with employees reaffirms expectations and goals, gives needed recognition, and helps your team develop as professionals. After all, with a strong team (and consequently low turnover) you don’t have to spend as many resources on hiring.
Projected 2015 HR Application Spending:
CareerPlug’s initiatives for this year align with Software Advice’s findings. In fact, we recently launched a new professional development tool, which includes performance reviews, called GoalSpark. We designed GoalSpark knowing that people are 76.7% more successful in achieving their goals when the write them down and share them with weekly accountability. Imagine if every employee was actively setting and achieving their own goals with the guidance of their manager … that could be a huge boost in the overall success of a company.
Performance reviews can then include high-level goals as well as customized competencies, creating a consistent culture of accountability for individual and company success. Not to mention that performance reviews also keep the line of communication open between manager and employee, which ultimately helps decrease employee turnover by identifying problems early.
Do you conduct regular performance reviews? And if so, do you utilize HR Software for performance reviews? Let us know!
