Earlier this month we launched our first (free) ebook on Building a Talent Magnet! It’s all about what we’ve learned helping our clients attract talent and build successful hiring processes, and how growing businesses can start to build their own Talent Magnet.
Here’s a quick preview of the material in the ebook:
Understanding Your Applicants
Old vs New
To construct an effective hiring process you first need to understand your applicants. The way people search and apply to jobs have changed. People no longer search job boards such as Monster or Careerbuilder. Job search engines such as Indeed dominate the web as the most used job search site. In fact, 72% of job seekers use Indeed to search for jobs.
Go Mobile or Go Home
From 2013 to 2014, the number of people who searched and applied mobily jumped to from 30% to 50%. Smartphones are rapidly replacing computers in functionality among people, and searching for jobs is no different. If you want to attract the best, you need to make sure your job ads are smartphone adjustable and mobile friendly.
Building Your Talent Magnet
Attractive Branding
If you want to bring in the best, you have to present yourself as the best– and your career’s page is no exception. When making a career’s page, you should stick to three important rules.
- First, you need to Set the Tone by clearly conveying your company’s values, culture, and mission. By summarizing who you are on your company’s site, applicants can understand your company culture, and decide if they’re a fit.
- When showing off your company, it’s important to Keep It Real. You expect candidates to be authentic and honest, so you should do the same.
- Next (and maybe more importantly, Make it Easy. Your careers page should be visually balanced and operate with ease. Candidates should be able to find and apply to the right jobs in as few clicks as possible.
Create compelling Job Posts
The job post is your closing argument to turn a job seeker into an applicant. Your job post should be compelling and flashy enough to both inform and excite the right type of job seekers.
Broadcast your job postings!
Your Careers Page will attract applicants who already know about your company, but you need to use the power of Job Search Engines, Social Media and Employee Referrals to supercharge your talent magnet. Search engines, social media, referrals, and sponsored listings are all platforms for broadcasting your job postings.
